Rifter launched on July 12, 2018, after three years of solo development by MaxBytes. Shortly after launch, the developer shipped a single post-launch update on July 31, 2018 (v1.1), which added an "accessible mode" with adjustable difficulty settings. This was the only post-launch update recorded. There are no unreleased DLC listings, no season pass, no roadmap, and no developer statements promising future content. The store description presents the game as a complete, self-contained product with over 90 stages, 30+ upgrades, boss battles, and multiple endings. The developer has not communicated anything about the game since July 31, 2018. Given the complete content package described on the store, the absence of any outstanding commitments, and the lack of any post-launch update pattern beyond the single accessibility patch, the game launched and was completed as a finished product shortly after release.
