On August 16, 2023, Digixart celebrated the game's second anniversary and stated "we are far from finished with the captivating universe of Road 96" — a reference to the broader franchise, not additional content for the base game itself. Their next standalone game, Tides of Tomorrow, launched on April 22, 2026. The most recent news (August 7, 2026) is significant: during the THQ Nordic Showcase, Digixart teased something new that "some of you probably recognized the feeling immediately," inviting fans to sign up for playtests. This appears to be a new Road 96-adjacent project (likely a sequel or spiritual successor), not additional content for the original Road 96. The teaser is for an entirely new, unannounced game — it does not indicate any new content coming to the Road 96 base game on Steam. Road 96 itself is a finite narrative adventure. Its content cycle concluded with the documentary DLC in October 2022, and Digixart has not communicated any plans to update or expand the base game. It is a complete, finished product.
