Evaluation
Robot Rumble 2 launched on Steam on September 3, 2024 as a free-to-play robot combat simulator. Since launch, the developer has shipped a consistent stream of major feature updates: a Feature Update and Mac Release on September 17, 2024; a Feature Update on January 14, 2025; a King of the Hill game mode update on April 8, 2025; the Weightfix feature update pushed to the unstable beta channel on March 31, 2026; and on September 1, 2026 (today), that same Weightfix update was promoted to the stable channel, making it the current default build of the game. That is five major content milestones in roughly 24 months — a cadence of approximately every 4-5 months.
Critically, the September 1, 2026 post explicitly states: "Work on our next Major Update is continuing in earnest and we cannot wait to share more in the future." The developer acknowledges that dev diary posts may slow down temporarily while doing background infrastructure work, but reaffirms that development is ongoing and that they will announce new content when ready.
Supporting this, a January 2026 developer diary introduced a new team member (Danielle) focusing on UI/UX and codebase refactoring, and a March 2026 diary discussed plans for a new original soundtrack, new stock robot teams, a Unity engine upgrade, and collider system rewriting to enable native Linux and Apple Silicon support. An April 2026 diary from developer Prisma also described ongoing platform support improvements. These posts collectively paint a picture of a growing team with substantial work in progress.
The developer has not announced any conclusion to content support, and the update today itself reaffirms that the next major update is underway.
Evidence
Weightfix update promoted to the stable channel as the new default build. Developer explicitly states work on the next major update is 'continuing in earnest' and promises future announcements.
Weightfix feature update shipped to the unstable beta channel, introducing a major overhaul to the weight simulation system, new shapes, a new arena, and more. Developer states work on other parts of the next major update is continuing.
