Evaluation

Rock Simulator launched on November 27, 2019 and received a steady stream of updates through its first two years: multiplayer was added in July 2020, the Rock Pass DLC shipped on November 27, 2020, and additional Rock Pass content (new skins, the Ocean map) followed in a March 15, 2021 patch. That March 2021 update is the last substantive content addition to this game. By early 2021, the developer had already shifted focus toward Rock Simulator 2. The March 2021 patch notes explicitly acknowledged that "updates are taking longer recently" due to work on a new project. In November 2022, Rock Simulator 2 was announced for wishlisting, and in September 2023 the developer announced its release date of November 30, 2023. The sequel's store page has been live since then. The sole DLC — the Rock Pass — was released on November 27, 2020 and received its final content additions in March 2021. No unreleased DLC exists in the store listing. There have been no news posts, patches, or developer communications directed at Rock Simulator itself since September 2023, and that post was primarily about the sequel. The developer's own words in the Rock Pass launch post noted it might eventually be retired in favor of a second pass, but no such follow-through ever materialized, and the sequel has since become the focus of ongoing development. Rock Simulator launched as a small, complete indie title. Its content cycle ended by early 2021, and the developer has moved on to its successor. The game is complete as it stands.
Evidence
Developer announced Rock Simulator 2's release date of November 30, 2023, describing the original as a 'silly little game' and focusing all future development energy on the sequel.
