Evaluation

Rocket League is no longer available for purchase on Steam — the game was moved to Epic Games Store exclusivity in September 2020 and simultaneously made free-to-play, at which point it was removed from the Steam storefront. No purchase options are currently available on Steam. Despite being unavailable to buy on Steam, the game itself remains very much alive and actively updated through the Epic Games Store. The developer has maintained a rapid and consistent cadence of seasonal content, with new seasons launching approximately every three months. The news record shows Season 18 launching March 14, 2025; Season 19 on June 18, 2025; Season 20 on September 17, 2025; Season 21 on December 10, 2025; Season 22 on March 11, 2026; Season 23 on June 10, 2026 (announced August 4, 2026); and Season 24 announced on September 18, 2026 with a launch date of September 23, 2026. Each season brings new arenas, car bodies, Rocket Pass content, limited-time events, and gameplay updates — a live-service structure that shows no signs of slowing down. The store description explicitly confirms "ongoing free and paid updates, including new DLCs, content packs, features, modes and arenas," and describes a Rocket Pass battle pass system and Esports Shop — hallmarks of a continuously monetized content cycle. However, because no purchase options exist on Steam, the Steam storefront assessment is delisted.

    SteamOS and Mac Beta Versions
As we continue to upgrade Rocket League® with new technologies like DirectX 11 and a 64-bit client, it is no longer viable for us to maintain support for the macOS and Linux (SteamOS) platforms. As a result, the final patch for the macOS and Linux versions of Rocket League was released on March 10, 2020. This update disabled online functionality (such as Casual and Competitive Playlists) for players on macOS and Linux, but offline features including Local Matches, and splitscreen play are still accessible.

Please note that Rocket League® on SteamOS and macOS may have bugs and stability issues not seen in the Windows version of the game, and these issues may not be fixed in future updates.

NOTE: Because of agreements with our online service provider, there are certain regions that are unable to connect to Rocket League®’s online multiplayer component. As a result, server access is restricted in China, Crimea, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, and Syria. Apologies to our customers in those regions.
