Evaluation

RUMBLE is a VR multiplayer fighting game that has been in Early Access on Steam since September 23, 2022, and remains in that state today. The developer has not announced a 1.0 release date or any plans to graduate from Early Access. Buckethead Entertainment has maintained a consistent and active development cadence throughout the game's lifespan. Two major content updates have shipped within the data: Version 0.4 (Character Customization, December 23, 2024) and Version 0.5 (Meta Quest standalone support with a full visual overhaul, February 25, 2026). These have been supported by a steady stream of feature patches and bug fixes. Development activity has continued at a high pace in 2026. A July 24, 2026 developer update detailed the team's plans for the Structure Walking mechanic — currently in iteration — with a commitment to bring an improved version back to the Experimental Branch for further community testing. Feature patches on August 13, 2026 (Party System, new cosmetics) and August 20, 2026 (map selection, Quest 3 rendering fix) confirm the team is actively shipping new functionality. A March 2025 roadmap post also listed several larger features that were deliberately deferred until after the standalone launch — including team fights, alternative game modes, new combat mechanics, and reworked environments — signaling that the developer has a substantial content agenda still ahead. The game shows no signs of winding down.
