Schism

Schism

Released Mar 2025

Schism is a challenging action roguelike RPG with deep synergies and high broken build potential. The combination of robust stat systems, fully moddable guns, deity worship, intense frequency-switching bullet hell combat, and difficult bosses make for a unique and highly replayable experience.

Evaluation

Schism launched into Early Access in December 2023 and graduated to its 1.0 full release on March 7, 2025. The developer shipped six major content updates during Early Access, steadily expanding the game with new weapons, relics, gods, enemies, bosses, secret areas, and mechanics. At the 1.0 launch, the developer was transparent about the game's future: while calling it "finished," they explicitly stated that content updates would continue sporadically alongside ongoing bug fixes. They described having "so many ideas I didn't have time to add" and said they "genuinely enjoy working on this game." A follow-up feature patch on May 26, 2025 reinforced this, with the developer mentioning specific types of content still planned — more relics, gods, bosses, and weapons — while acknowledging that life and other projects have slowed their pace. The most recent developer communication was the May 26, 2025 update. The developer has been clear that updates will be infrequent and sporadic rather than on a fixed schedule, so the roughly 4 weeks of silence since then (as of today, June 21, 2026) falls well within what the developer themselves described as their expected update cadence of "every few months." The developer has not announced the conclusion of content development.
Evidence
Developer reaffirms plans to add new content including more relics, gods, bosses, and weapons, noting life and other projects have slowed progress but expressing genuine enjoyment of working on the game.
