Evaluation
Scoot has been in Early Access since December 28, 2020, and has received consistent updates from solo developer Matt at Seafront Games. Major content milestones include a complete game rebuild (August 2022), a revamped Replay Editor and overhauled Jumbo Jump Island (November 4, 2023), and the launch of an open world map in an early state (November 10, 2025). The developer has continued shipping feature patches and content since then, including grind and trick physics overhauls, a drone traversal system, a stats menu, and a map polish update on December 28, 2025.
The most recent developer communication, a July 13, 2026 news post, delivered another round of content — 50+ new scooter parts, custom drones, and a new area added to the open world. However, the same post included a candid admission from Matt that Scoot "hasn't been performing too great the past year or so," and that because he does this full-time and needs to pay the bills, he has been working on a separate small game called "We Need More Humans!" The game's 1.0 release remains the stated long-term goal, with the open world described as a central part of that vision, but the developer's financial situation and shift of attention to another project introduces real uncertainty about when — or whether — Scoot will reach that 1.0 milestone.
Evidence
Developer ships 50+ new scooter parts, custom drones, and a new open world area, but also discloses that Scoot has been performing poorly financially and that they are now developing a separate game ('We Need More Humans!') to sustain income.
Developer launches the open world map in an early state, explicitly stating it is unfinished and that the full focus going forward is building it out. Describes the open world as 'a huge part of my vision for this game' and confirms a 1.0 release remains the eventual goal.
