Evaluation

Scrappage released on February 25, 2023, and the solo developer (Geekspree) has continued updating it ever since. In a January 11, 2025 developer post, the developer candidly acknowledged that the original launch was closer to an unfinished state, and listed a long series of improvements made since then — including a new final boss fight, full local co-op, new characters, maps, enemies, weapons, and extensive bug fixes. That active development has continued without pause. Updates throughout 2024 added new items, a revived co-op revive mechanic, new music, and enemy rebalancing. December 2024 brought a significant overhaul of the final boss encounter. January 2026 added a new unlockable start character ("Ed"), February 2026 added a new item and balance tweaks, and September 2026 brought another round of combat bug fixes and an engine update. Most recently, on October 4, 2026 — just one day before today's evaluation — the developer shipped version 1.3.0, dubbed the "Ultra Update." This is the largest update in some time, adding four new graphics quality presets (including real-time shadows, ambient occlusion, bloom, heat distortion, and dynamic fog), nine new languages, humorous descriptions for nearly 200 items, Steam leaderboard integration, major balance changes, and a long list of bug fixes. Across 49 developer news posts, 15 are feature patches and 2 are major content updates, showing a well-established pattern of ongoing development. No DLC or season pass structure exists, and no specific future content has been formally announced — but the developer has made no statement that development is winding down, and the October 4, 2026 update demonstrates continued active engagement with the game.
