Evaluation
Scratches - Director's Cut is no longer available for purchase on Steam. The game was released on April 20, 2011, and the store listing has no purchase options. A February 2019 developer post explicitly explained the situation: a legal dispute made it impossible to sell the game, with no immediate resolution in sight at the time. The developer (Nucleosys/Senscape) was focused on completing their follow-up game ASYLUM, which eventually launched on March 6, 2025. The most recent news post from October 31, 2025 celebrates ASYLUM's launch and references Scratches nostalgically, but contains no indication that Scratches will return to sale or receive any new content. The Director's Cut is a complete, self-contained package — it expanded the original game with an alternate ending, a new chapter, updated graphics, and an enhanced soundtrack. There is no announced future content for Scratches itself.
Evidence
Developer explicitly states that due to a legal situation, Scratches can no longer be sold and there is no immediate solution in sight.
Director's Cut described as a complete, enhanced package including an alternate ending, a new chapter ('The Last Visit'), Michael's diary, upgraded graphics, and an eerier soundtrack — no ongoing content implied.
