Sherwood Extreme

Sherwood Extreme launched into Early Access on May 12, 2021 and reached its 1.0 full release on April 29, 2024, developed by the two-person team at CAGE Studios. Over its lifetime, the game received four major content updates: the RPG/Season Three update (October 7, 2021), the Rogue Update 5.0 with new level packs (September 11, 2022), the 1.0 launch itself with the Level Editor (April 29, 2024), and the Winterwood seasonal update (December 19, 2024). The one paid DLC — the Bonus Level Pack — was released back on September 11, 2022 and is the only DLC listed on the store. The most telling signal about the game's future comes from the developer's own communications. The April 30, 2025 anniversary post celebrated the game's success (over 140,000 players) and teased an upcoming sci-fi roguelite shooter reveal "this summer." By July 3, 2025, that new game was confirmed: CAGE Studios announced a free demo for their next title, GUNSTOPPABLE, explicitly inviting the Sherwood community to follow and help shape that game's future. No further content for Sherwood Extreme has been announced in either post. The December 2024 Winterwood patch appears to be the final major content release for Sherwood Extreme. The studio's attention has clearly shifted to GUNSTOPPABLE, and no roadmap, DLC, or update plans for Sherwood have been communicated since then. The game shipped as a free-to-play title with one paid level pack and a sustained run of updates through 1.0; the developer has now moved on to their next project.
