Evaluation
Ship Graveyard Simulator 2 launched on August 16, 2023 and received six paid DLCs over roughly two years: Warships (December 9, 2023), Steel Giants (March 11, 2024), Submarines (June 19, 2024), Floating Cities (December 12, 2024), Steam Ships (March 31, 2025), and Fishing Boats (July 24, 2025). On March 5, 2026, the developer simultaneously posted a free content update for SGS2 (a crossover submarine model added to the Submarines DLC) and officially announced Ship Graveyard Simulator 3, built from the ground up on Unreal Engine 5. The SGS3 announcement describes a full sequel with substantially expanded systems — free-cutting, heavy machinery, an open town, NPC quests, and a progression system — making clear the studio's primary development effort has moved to the next game.
Since the March 5, 2026 crossover update — which was itself a bonus free model, not a new DLC — no new content for SGS2 has been announced or released. The studio has gone on to open SGS3 playtesting on April 15, 2026 and release an SGS3 demo on August 6, 2026, with all recent communications signed by the "Ship Graveyard Simulator 3 Team" rather than the SGS2 team. The last SGS2-specific content shipped on March 5, 2026, and the historical DLC cadence of approximately every 3–5 months has now been silent for over five months with full developer attention visibly on a successor title. No further SGS2 DLC has been announced, and all six listed DLCs are released. The evidence points to SGS2 having reached the end of its content lifecycle as of the March 5, 2026 crossover update.
Evidence
Ship Graveyard Simulator 3 officially announced, built on Unreal Engine 5 with entirely new systems. Studio focus clearly shifted to the sequel.
Fishing Boats DLC released — the sixth and most recent paid DLC for SGS2.
