Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon launched on December 13, 2021 and has received a substantial post-launch content roadmap delivered through three free DLC packs. Yacht Club Games announced from the start that three free DLC packs were planned (confirmed in the June 1, 2023 announcement post). The first two delivered on schedule: the Puzzler's Pack launched on June 6, 2023, and the Paradox Pack launched on August 13, 2024. When releasing the Paradox Pack, the developer explicitly announced that a third and final DLC pack — the Pals Pack — was already in development, focused on online multiplayer support.
On September 13, 2024, the developer opened an early preview branch for the Pals Pack. On July 2–10, 2025, they released the Pals Pack publicly on Steam in an early preview state alongside a two-week Online VS Beta, while explicitly noting the Pals Pack was still in active development and that the "retail-ready version" would launch on PC and console later in 2025. The Online Beta concluded on July 16, 2025, with Online VS disabled pending further improvements.
The most recent developer communication in the news feed is a May 31, 2026 post announcing Steam bundles celebrating the launch of Mina the Hollower — another Yacht Club Games title. While this confirms the studio is active, it contains no update on the Pals Pack's full retail release. The promised 2025 full release window for the Pals Pack has passed with no confirmation, and Online VS Mode remains unfinished as of the last Pals Pack-specific update on July 16, 2025. Given the developer's clear commitment to delivering a complete Pals Pack with full online functionality, and the unresolved status of that deliverable, the game's content cannot yet be considered complete.
Evidence
