Evaluation
Skull and Bones is a seasonal live service naval action RPG actively in operation, with Year 3 Season 2 ('Crimson Waters') launching on August 17, 2026 — just one day before today's assessment date.
The developer, Ubisoft Singapore, published a Year 3 roadmap on May 6, 2026 ('Sails of Power') outlining four seasons across 2026. Year 3 Season 1 ('Shattered Seas') launched May 12, 2026, bringing the Galleon ship, two new World Tiers, a Seasonal Mastery system, and Mythic Modifications. Season 2 ('Crimson Waters') has now launched (August 17, 2026), introducing the Junk ship class, the Abyssal Fleet enemy faction, a new world event, Modification Transfer, and Seasonal Mastery loadout slots.
Beyond Year 3, a July 17, 2026 developer Q&A explicitly confirmed that the team has begun drafting a Year 4 roadmap. The developer discussed future ship candidates (Xebec, Fluyt listed in the Y3 roadmap for S3/S4), Combat 2.0 (described as actively in development), new PvP features, and expanded group play tools. The Y3 ship roadmap is described as "locked and in production," and the Season 4 ship was confirmed to be in production as of July 2026.
The DLC store listings reflect Year 3 Season 1 seasonal bundles (Boatload Bundle Y3S1, Seasonal Box, Starter Pack Y3S1), all released May 12, 2026. The store description explicitly promises "ever-evolving content and seasonal challenges" and a world that "continuously expands with regular content updates."
Bug fix and maintenance patches have been issued consistently throughout Year 3, with the most recent (prior to the Season 2 launch) on July 7, 2026. The developer has maintained active communication with the community through patch notes, Q&A streams, and roadmap updates throughout this period.
With Year 3 Seasons 3 and 4 still ahead, Year 4 in early planning, and Combat 2.0 in active development, there is no indication of any wind-down in content or operations.
