Evaluation

Sonic Frontiers launched on November 7, 2022 and received a publicly announced three-part free content update plan. The developer outlined this roadmap in a December 15, 2022 post, promising three distinct free updates covering new modes, a birthday celebration, and new playable characters with a story expansion. All three updates shipped as promised: 1. "Sights, Sounds, and Speed" — March 23, 2023 (photo mode, jukebox, new challenge modes) 2. "Sonic's Birthday Bash" — June 24, 2023 (birthday content, Spin Dash skill, New Game+) 3. "The Final Horizon" — September 28, 2023 (new story, playable Tails, Amy, and Knuckles) The Final Horizon update was explicitly described as the "3rd climactic final Content Update" in its announcement post on September 28, 2023. The Birthday Bash post also referred to it as the "final content update" coming later that year. The store description reinforces this, presenting the game as "The Comprehensive Experience" that includes all game modes and content updates in one package — referencing all three updates by name as completed inclusions. All listed DLC (Monster Hunter Collaboration Pack, Holiday Cheer Suit, and Sonic Adventure 2 Shoes) were released in late 2022. No unreleased DLC exists on the store. There have been no developer communications announcing additional content beyond what has already shipped. The full content plan the developer committed to in December 2022 has been delivered in its entirety.
