Spirit of the Island launched on August 17, 2022 and has since gone through a significant post-launch development journey. The game shipped one paid DLC — Adventureland — on October 3, 2023, and a free "Beach Resort" DLC that was later folded directly into the base game. A major free "New Story" update overhauling the entire main storyline shipped on February 9, 2024. The game also expanded to consoles and mobile through 2023–2024, with all platforms eventually unified into a single cross-play version by July 2024.
In a July 23, 2024 post, the developer announced that with the multi-platform launch now complete, their focus was shifting entirely to bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements — signalling the end of major new content development.
The most recent developer communication is from April 17, 2026, when the team posted a small update fixing a font/localization issue caused by a Unity engine update. Crucially, this post mentions "a bigger update is coming soon" to also fix achievement issues. However, the context of this statement — a maintenance patch addressing a technical regression — strongly suggests this refers to a follow-up bug fix, not a new content expansion. The developer had already communicated in July 2024 that they were pivoting to bug fixes and optimizations as the game's final phase.
Taken together, the developer's July 2024 statement wrapping up content development, the absence of any announced DLC or content roadmap since then, and the purely maintenance-focused nature of recent posts indicate the game's content is complete.
