Evaluation
StarCrawlers launched out of Early Access on May 23, 2017. After launch, the developer shipped one major free content update — the Hotwire Update (v1.1.1) on June 17, 2018 — which added a fully developed hacking system. This update was originally planned as paid DLC but was released free to all players instead.
After the Hotwire Update in June 2018, developer communication shifted focus entirely to a new game: StarCrawlers Chimera. Starting in December 2020, the developer announced StarCrawlers Chimera, ran a Kickstarter campaign for it in May–June 2021, and all subsequent news posts on the StarCrawlers page have been about promoting that successor title. The last post of any kind on the StarCrawlers page was on June 11, 2021 — focused on the Chimera Kickstarter.
There is only one DLC listed (the soundtrack, released in 2015), and no unreleased DLC exists. The hacking DLC that was announced in October 2017 was ultimately folded into the base game as a free update rather than sold separately. No further content has been announced for StarCrawlers since the Hotwire Update shipped in June 2018. The developer's attention has visibly moved on to StarCrawlers Chimera. The game appears to be a complete, finished product.
Evidence
Final news post on the StarCrawlers page, focused entirely on the Chimera Kickstarter demo. No updates to the original game have been posted since this date.
The Hotwire Update (v1.1.1) shipped as a free update, delivering all previously announced hacking content folded into the base game rather than sold as DLC. This fulfilled the October 2017 announcement.
