StarDrive 2

StarDrive 2 launched on April 9, 2015 and received two paid DLC expansions: Sector Zero (March 8, 2016) and the Shipyards Content Pack (June 22, 2016). Both are fully released with no unreleased DLC remaining on the store. After a multi-year gap, the solo developer (Zero Sum Games) returned in January 2021 with a surprise update burst — a series of feature patches and bug fixes running from January 18, 2021 through March 16, 2021. In the first of these posts (January 18, 2021), the developer was candid: he had stepped away from StarDrive 2 to work on another project (Longsword) and returned briefly out of personal interest to fix bugs and add some quality-of-life features. One post from January 26, 2021 mentioned a goal to produce "a total remaster of StarDrive 2" and described the patch as being "on the Road to Remaster." However, after the March 16, 2021 patch, no further developer communications have appeared. The last post on March 16, 2021 itself noted that "my day job has been pretty busy" and that updates would come "in the coming weeks" — a promise that was never followed through publicly. That remaster goal was stated informally during what turned out to be a brief, sporadic return, and has not been reaffirmed in any subsequent post. Given that the last developer communication was March 16, 2021 — over five years before today's date of June 28, 2026 — and there are no unreleased DLC, no outstanding announced content, and no follow-up activity of any kind, the game's content development has effectively concluded. The 2021 activity looks in hindsight like a one-off return rather than the start of a sustained new update cycle. The "Road to Remaster" was never completed or formally announced as a product, and the extended silence since March 2021 strongly indicates that effort was quietly shelved. The most recent substantive content release was the Shipyards Content Pack on June 22, 2016, and the game's content is considered complete as of the developer's last patch on March 16, 2021.
