Starsand Island

Starsand Island launched its Version 1.0 on August 18, 2026, graduating from a roughly six-month Early Access period that began on February 12, 2026. The 1.0 release is a substantial update, adding online multiplayer for up to four players (including a cooperative Multiplayer Shop and shared resource system), expanded NPC relationship stories, an upgraded dating system with 14 romanceable characters, and player-created blueprints from a community Blueprint Contest. The developer has been explicit that the 1.0 launch is not the end of the road. In their July 31, 2026 release date announcement, they stated directly: "Version 1.0 is just the beginning. We'll continue bringing new content, improvements, and exciting updates to Starsand Island in the future." Their August 16, 2026 pre-launch post further confirmed that over 40 Silver and Bronze Award-winning community blueprints are still being optimized and will be added in future updates. A Costume Design Contest also kicked off on August 18, 2026, with the possibility that winning player-designed costumes will be incorporated into the game. The developer additionally noted they are looking into cross-platform multiplayer support and will share updates if progress is made. During Early Access, the studio maintained an active development cadence — multiple feature patches (April, May, June 2026), regular bug fixes, and new DLC cosmetic packs — demonstrating consistent engagement with the community. All six currently listed DLCs are released cosmetic content. In April 2026, the game was briefly pulled from Steam after the developer discovered unauthorized third-party visual assets in a mini-game; they resolved the issue promptly, removed the content, resubmitted the build, and provided a free compensation DLC ("Shining Star" Outfit Set) to all players.
