Starship EVO has been in Early Access since June 19, 2020 and remains actively in development. The game's biggest recent milestone was the Survival Update, which launched around late March 2026 — adding a full survival loop where players start stranded on a planet and must build their way back to space. The developer acknowledged the launch was rougher than hoped but responded with over 33 patches in the first month. On April 28–29, 2026, the developer published a detailed roadmap and post-launch recap describing the next wave of planned features: caves with underground gold deposits and mobs, new mining efficiency tiers with a stone crusher block, farming and food systems with hydroponic blocks, a research station for discovering new schematics, jetpack fuel requirements, backpack overhauls, blueprint-spawning shipyards, and more. These features were explicitly described as the next steps and have not yet shipped. Development has continued at a steady clip since then. Feature patches through June and July 2026 added terrain shader performance improvements (the developer notes FPS on the planet surface rose from 50 fps in April to 95–100 fps by early June), new cockpit instrument bricks, a crosshair redesign, and Steam peer-to-peer multiplayer connectivity (eliminating the need for port forwarding). The most recent update, dated August 15, 2026, is a hotfix build still in the experimental branch, confirming the developer remains actively engaged. The overall communication and patching cadence — multiple updates per month, a public GitHub issue tracker, and frequent experimental builds — is consistent with a game well into ongoing development with significant planned content still to deliver.
