Evaluation

Static Dread: The Submarine launched on August 14, 2026 as a complete narrative horror game. The developer, solarsuit.games, conducted a closed playtest in February 2026, opened it to the public in March 2026, released a public demo on May 28, 2026, and launched the full game on schedule on August 14, 2026. Since launch, the developer has been actively addressing player feedback: a hotfix went out on August 15, and a more substantial Patch 1.0.1 followed on August 17 (today), fixing story bugs, audio issues, and gameplay problems. That same patch mentions a few small additions coming "later this week" — a lore log console and an end-of-game statistics screen — which appear to be minor quality-of-life features rather than new content. All three DLC items (a Supporter Pack, the game's soundtrack, and a digital art collection) were released on launch day. There are no unreleased DLC entries, no announced post-launch roadmap, no season pass, and no seasonal or live-service content structure. The game reads as a self-contained narrative experience in the same universe as the developer's previous title, Static Dread: The Lighthouse. Because the game is only 3 days old, there simply isn't enough post-launch history to confirm whether additional content will ever be announced. The developer has not stated the game is complete, but equally has not announced anything beyond minor polish updates.

About this game

A psychological horror set in a Lovecraftian setting, blending with the cold reality of a military submarine trapped in the depths of the North Atlantic. This story follows ordinary people pushed to the brink of madness as they encounter the unthinkable horrors beneath the waves.

LOVECRAFTIAN HORROR

Ancient forces have awakened beneath the ocean, and all contact with the surface is lost. Seek answers at the heart of an apocalypse aboard a nuclear submarine.

MAKE HARD CHOICES

Every crew member is more than just an asset. They are human beings, haunted by their own fears and suffering. You have to make hard choice – complete the mission or preserve your humanity.

YOU ARE IN CHARGE NOW

You are the captain’s right hand. Assign tasks, maintain discipline, and don’t let madness overcome your mind.

LOOK INTO THE ABYSS

Scan the depths with sonar. But remember, not everything in the ocean follows military protocol… Is it another submarine, or something alive?
