Evaluation

Stay Out of the House launched on October 13, 2022 after several years of development. Following launch, Puppet Combo shipped two meaningful content updates: a November 30, 2022 update adding Hard Mode, Explore Mode, a Document Viewer, and several new gameplay mechanics, and a March 12, 2023 update adding five new languages, a Mac build, and cloud saves. These were accompanied by a series of bug fix patches through July 2, 2023, when patch 1.1.7 — described by the developer as "one of our biggest patches yet" in terms of fixes and polish — was released. That July 2023 patch is the last recorded developer communication of any kind. No further updates, announcements, roadmaps, or developer posts have appeared since July 2, 2023. The developer has not announced any unshipped DLC or future content plans. The store description contains no mention of planned additions, season passes, or ongoing content cycles. There are no unreleased DLC listings. The post-launch update pattern — two content drops followed by maintenance patches — has fully tapered off, with nearly three years of silence since the final patch. This is consistent with a game that has reached the end of its intended update cycle. The game shipped as a complete, finished product with no outstanding commitments.
Evidence
Patch 1.1.7 released — described as one of the biggest patches in terms of fixes and polish, assembled with help from a community member. This is the last developer communication on record.

About this game

Stay out of the House is a realistic serial killer escape sim. You've been kidnapped and held captive in a cannibal butcher's house. And it's only a matter of time until you're dinner.

Escape however you can. The house is a living sandbox with multiple possibilities - will you rescue the other victims or just save yourself? Will you hide in the shadows and slip away undetected or turn the tables, using the butcher's own traps against him? The choices are yours and the AI will react to them dynamically.

The smack of a hammer... your head lands hard on the dirty linoleum floor... a maniac drags you up the stairs and cages you like an animal! You have three days until the reckoning...

Welcome to the home of THE BUTCHER. Welcome to YOUR new home. Why are you here? Why has this mad man chosen you, and what are his plans for you? How will you escape? Can you even escape? All of these questions have answers, but can you seek them out? Do you want to? If only you’d heeded their warning to STAY OUT OF THE HOUSE.

  • Avoid THE BUTCHER'S cruel hammer or wind up right back in your CAGE! And you only have so much time left to escape...
  • Stay quiet and stay out of sight. He can hear you, and he IS listening.
  • Avoid his traps as you explore; he’s not about to let his newest houseguest leave so soon.
  • There are plenty of unique tools and items around them house to aid in your escape. You’ll need your wits to find the best path out.
  • Temper his SICK LUST FOR BLOOD with your .38 caliber revolver (if you can find it!)
  • Search for clues as you explore if you truly want answers. Perhaps you’ll find more than you bargained for…
