Steel Rain launched on December 3, 2015 and received a steady stream of substantial updates through 2017. The developer shipped two major content drops: the 1.5.0 update in May 2016, which added Arcade and Survival game modes, and the Expeditions DLC on October 20, 2017, which added three new zones, new mission types, new enemies, and unlockable Prototype Wings. A companion Soundtrack DLC was released on the same day. Both DLC entries are now released, and no unreleased DLC exists in the store listing. The final developer communication was a feature patch on October 27, 2017 (version 1.8.1), released shortly after the Expeditions DLC launched. The developer has posted no updates of any kind since October 27, 2017 — over eight years of silence. The update history establishes that when the developer was actively supporting the game, they posted frequently (multiple times per month). The extended silence, combined with no announced future content and no unreleased DLC, is consistent with the game having reached the end of its content cycle following the Expeditions DLC release. The game appears to have shipped as a complete product at that point.
