Steps of Debauchery remains in Early Access with active and well-communicated development. FooxiedGames has maintained a consistent rhythm of major episode releases since the game launched on February 5, 2024, with nine major content updates tracked in the news feed.
The most recent major update — Episode 5.2 — went live on Steam on September 20, 2026 [NEWS-1], delivering approximately 2,950 new renders, around 33,000 new words of script, a record number of animations, and the beginning of a new in-game location. This was immediately followed on September 21, 2026 by a bug-fix and accessibility patch adding WASD support and other improvements [NEWS-10].
Looking back at the recent cadence: Episode 4.1 shipped March 23, 2025 [NEWS-9]; Episode 4.2 on June 24, 2025 [NEWS-8]; Episode 5.0 on November 8, 2025; the Christmas DLC on December 12, 2025 [NEWS-4]; Episode 5.1 on April 12, 2026 [NEWS-3]; and Episode 5.2 on September 20, 2026 [NEWS-1]. This shows roughly 3–5 months between major episodes, with the team clearly still active.
Beyond what has already shipped, the developer stated explicitly on August 21, 2026 [NEWS-2] that 4 more episodes are planned after 5.2 — referred to as episodes leading up to the final version (7.0 or 8.0) — with a target of completing all of them by end of 2027. All remaining episodes will be free to Steam purchasers. The developer also mentioned side-story DLCs planned for after the main story wraps up. This was further reinforced by the June 29, 2025 development post [NEWS-7], in which the developer reiterated that the final update (version 7.0 or 8.0) will arrive in the second half of 2026 (now updated to end of 2027 per the August 2026 post) and confirmed the studio is continuing development.
The developer has been candid about production challenges — particularly the difficulty of finding additional Daz3D artists — but has remained transparent, consistent in communication, and has not signaled any threat to the project's continuation. Development is clearly ongoing with a defined roadmap ahead.
