Stop Dead launched in Early Access on October 5, 2023 and has received three numbered content updates during that period. The original roadmap (published November 14, 2023) promised three major free content updates culminating in a final boss and full story conclusion. Content Update 1 shipped November 21, 2023; Content Update 2 shipped February 22, 2024; and the scope of Content Update 3 was significantly expanded in May 2024 before eventually being delivered — the December 18, 2025 update released all remaining maps, the final boss, and back-ported 1.0 features.
In that same December 18, 2025 post, the developer made two important disclosures: first, that the studio has gone fully independent again after what appears to have been a period with a larger team or outside support; and second, that the 1.0 release is content-complete but is being held back by two blockers — localization into additional languages and QA coverage for the now-larger game — both of which are difficult for a single-person team to accomplish without funding.
The most recent communication was a small hotfix on December 22, 2025, which fixed final boss bugs and noted it would likely be the last update until the new year. As of June 21, 2026, there have been no further posts. The 1.0 release has not shipped, and the developer has not provided an update on progress toward solving the localization and QA blockers since December 2025. The game remains in Early Access with a promised but unscheduled 1.0 release, and the single remaining developer's capacity to deliver it is uncertain.
Evidence
Developer confirms the studio is fully independent again with only one person (Amber) remaining. The 1.0 patch is content-complete but is blocked by localization and QA requirements that the team currently lacks resources to fulfill. All remaining maps were released in this update as a goodwill gesture while solutions are explored.
