Story of a Gladiator launched on November 27, 2019 and received one significant post-launch content update — the Colosseum Tournament mode, added on January 2, 2020. That update introduced a new game mode, new achievements, co-op play, and a variety of balance changes. Since then, no further major content has been released, and the game's only DLC (a soundtrack) shipped on December 17, 2019.
The most recent developer communication, from June 1, 2026, is an announcement for a new game called Dominus Gladiatus — a spiritual successor set in the same universe. Importantly, this post closes with a thank-you to Story of a Gladiator's players and an invitation to follow the new title, with no mention of any upcoming updates to Story of a Gladiator itself. This signals that Brain Seal has moved on from the original game and is directing their energy toward the sequel.
