SUPER DRINK BROS. entered Steam Early Access on November 12, 2020 as an unfinished game. In its first few months, the developer (a solo creator, nekogameteacher) was quite active: six new fighters were added to the roster between January and March 2021, accompanied by regular balance patches and system improvements. The most recent developer news post on record is a patch note from September 5, 2021, which added quality-of-life features like in-queue training mode. Two cosmetic DLC packs ("Fighter Collection First" and "Fighter Collection Second") appeared on the store on March 3, 2023, but there were no accompanying announcements or devlog posts explaining them. Since September 5, 2021, there have been no developer blog posts, patch notes, roadmaps, or any official communication. The game remains in Early Access with no announced 1.0 release date, no stated completion plan, and no explanation for the prolonged silence. It is unclear whether development is continuing, paused, or abandoned.
