Take the Dream IX

Take the Dream IX is a free-to-play RPG that released on April 1, 2016, and remains available on Steam. On May 7, 2025, developer Yai Gameworks announced a sweeping 10-year anniversary celebration committing to free updates for every game in their catalog through August 31, 2026. For Take the Dream IX specifically, the developer promised a new ending, Steam achievements, and technical improvements for compatibility with newer PCs. A follow-up post on August 22, 2025 reaffirmed the studio's overall activity and these update plans, while noting some delays to other titles in the lineup due to a family health situation. The developer did not cancel or walk back the Take the Dream IX update. The August 31, 2026 deadline for the full anniversary update campaign has now passed as of today (October 8, 2026), and there are no news posts confirming that the Take the Dream IX update actually shipped. However, neither is there a post confirming it was cancelled. The most recent developer communication (August 22, 2025) still treated the update as planned. Since there is no confirmation the promised content has shipped and no cancellation on record, the announced content remains outstanding.
