Terra Firma (the original, free version — Steam App ID 1482770) reached its final state on February 21, 2025, when the developer released version 1.0 and explicitly announced it as the "final update to this free version." The developer has been working on this project since January 2018, building it in their spare time, and this 1.0 release marked the formal end of its development lifecycle. The developer's announcement on February 21, 2025 also explained why the project is concluding: they are now working full time on Terra Firma 2, a paid sequel with substantially expanded features (temperature systems, new biomes, campaign mode, and more). Terra Firma 2 subsequently launched on October 27, 2025, confirming that the developer's focus and future development efforts have fully transitioned to that successor title. The store description still references "early access" language, but this reflects outdated copy — the developer's own February 21, 2025 post unambiguously states the game graduated from early access to full release with version 1.0, and that this 1.0 is the final update. The Early Access flag on Steam is set to false, consistent with this. Terra Firma as a standalone product is complete.
