Territory Control 2 entered Steam Early Access on February 23, 2026, after five years of development. At launch, the developers (TFlippy and Knorrepot) were explicit that the game is in early alpha and that significant content — including Vehicles, Player Economy, Automation, and High-power Industry systems — was already implemented but intentionally held back, with a commitment to releasing it "within the next couple of months." They also described "a lot is yet to come." Since the Early Access launch, the team has shipped four patches (versions 0.1.71.1 through 0.1.74.0) between March 10 and May 10, 2026, showing a consistent pace of active development. These updates have added tutorials, new crafting recipes, new items, NPC improvements, performance optimizations, and balance changes. The May 10, 2026 patch notes revealed that lead developer TFlippy experienced burnout and took a break, but development has resumed. That patch also references "a larger update that should come out soon-ish," indicating more content is in the pipeline. This is a game with substantial content still explicitly planned and an active development cadence, albeit one carried largely by a solo developer who has shown signs of fatigue.
