Tethered launched on February 27, 2017 as a VR strategy game. The developer was active in the weeks following launch, shipping a bug fix patch on March 7, 2017 and then announcing a major free update on March 23, 2017. That update arrived on April 10, 2017, adding full non-VR play support, a new save system, and time controls — a substantial improvement to the base game. This was the second and final major content update the developer released. The only DLC ever listed — the original soundtrack — shipped on launch day in February 2017. There are no unreleased DLC entries, no announced future content, no roadmap, and no developer communications of any kind after April 10, 2017. The game's store description describes a fixed set of thirteen islands with no mention of ongoing or planned additions. With no sustained post-launch content pattern and developer communications having ceased entirely after April 2017, the game launched as a complete product and received its last meaningful update shortly after release.
