Evaluation

The Cursed Forest launched out of Early Access on February 26, 2019, after several years of development. At launch, the developers stated they would "continue support our game and fixing serious problems if they appear," signaling that the full story content was complete but minor maintenance might continue. On April 18, 2019, the team shipped their final update (v1.0.4), which added the official soundtrack DLC (a standalone music release) and fan-contributed translations for Hungarian, Italian, and French. That post explicitly stated: "Here it is our last (maybe) The Cursed Forest update!" and "for The Cursed Forest we made all that we wanted and could. Now, new horizons opening for us." This is a clear developer signal that content development for the game was finished. Since April 2019, the only notable posts were a June 2021 minor moon-visibility bug fix and a July 2020 announcement that the team had begun collaborating on an entirely separate game called Noch. The last meaningful developer communication about The Cursed Forest itself was the June 2021 bug fix. There have been no announcements of new content, no unreleased DLC on the store, and no roadmap pointing to future updates. The sole DLC on the store — the original soundtrack — has been released since April 18, 2019. The game shipped as a complete five-section horror-adventure story, and the developer's own words confirm they consider it finished.
