The Devourer: Hunted Souls

The Devourer: Hunted Souls is a multiplayer horror game currently in Early Access on Steam. It launched on October 26, 2023 with Story Chapter 1 as its main content. ZTEK Studio — a two-person team — has been working on Chapter 2 ever since, with a series of increasingly delayed targets: mid-to-late May 2024 (announced March 19, 2024), then Q1 2025 or "guaranteed" Q2 2025 (announced February 1, 2025), then full playtesting with beta testers as of November 26, 2025. Chapter 2 has still not shipped to the main branch. The key new development since the previous assessment is a roadmap post from September 16, 2026 — just one day before today's evaluation. This confirms the developer is still active after a period of silence. The post explains that the team has reworked many systems and is planning to push a large technical update (covering new scares, new UI, voice chat improvements, creature behaviour changes, and bug fixes) before releasing Chapter 2. The roadmap also now reveals a Chapter 3 is planned beyond that. So the scope of planned content has actually expanded. The developer is demonstrably still working on the game, which resolves the most acute concern from the previous assessment. However, Chapter 2 remains unreleased despite having been in beta testing since at least November 2025 and originally targeted for mid-2024. The game continues to carry genuine uncertainty about when these chapters will actually ship — the developer has now missed multiple firm commitments by wide margins.
