The Forgotten Ones

The Forgotten Ones is a free-to-play action-adventure game that launched on July 17, 2014. Over the years it received a handful of bug fix patches shortly after launch, a substantial feature update (V2.9) in August 2015 that added Mac/Linux support and overhauled several systems, and then went quiet for several years. The developer returned on August 10, 2023 with what they called a "Late Anniversary Patch - v3.0 / Remastered," delivering map optimizations, visual improvements, 4K support, quality-of-life fixes, and boss encounter improvements. This update is the most recent developer communication of any kind. Notably, the v3.0 post makes no mention of future updates or planned content for this game — the only forward-looking note points players toward the developer's separate project, Infestus, on a different Steam page. An earlier (2015) post had teased that "the next version of TFO will most likely include the sequel," but that promise was never followed through with a specific announcement, and the 2023 v3.0 update — which came nearly eight years later — did not revisit it. Given the absence of any announced future content, no unreleased DLC, and no developer communication since August 10, 2023, the game appears to be a finished product as of the v3.0 remastered update.
