Evaluation

The Guild II Renaissance originally launched on July 28, 2010, but has been in a period of active renewed development since approximately mid-2025, with publisher THQ Nordic's backing confirmed in a developer note within Patch 4.6. The development team has maintained a consistent cadence of substantial updates through the game's opt-in beta branch on Steam. On May 28, 2026, Patch 4.6 (Beta) arrived with Steam Workshop support, Steam Multiplayer, 263 Steam Achievements, new modding tools, and a revamped economy interface — with the team explicitly noting that "future patches will keep on rolling." On July 5, 2026, Patch 4.677–4.679 followed, described as the game's largest economy rework to date, overhauling AI workshop management, customer behavior, pricing systems, and cart logic. On August 9, 2026, Patch 4.697–4.72 introduced an entirely new Counting Houses and Guild Privileges system with trade routes, trade licensing, and guild upgrade trees. On September 15, 2026 — just three days before today's date of September 18, 2026 — Patch 4.727–4.75 arrived, adding a new hotkeys manager, a workshop interface update, localization improvements, and a range of quality-of-life and bugfix changes. The developer closed that post with: "We will keep going, be back soon with more!" — a clear signal that the update cycle is ongoing. The developer has not signaled any conclusion to this update cycle. Separately, the same developer launched a distinct product, The Guild 1 Remake: Europa 1410, into Early Access on September 17, 2026. That game is sold on its own Steam page and has its own development track. Several news posts on this page discuss Europa 1410, but they concern a different product and do not affect the development status of The Guild II Renaissance.

In the 14th Century the world order is beginning to transform itself. Due to trade and commerce an increasing middle class obtains more and more power and wealth.
