Evaluation
The Long Drive has been in Early Access since September 25, 2019 and remains there today. The developer (Genesz, a small team) has been transparent about the pace of development throughout.
The most recent developer communication is a July 3, 2025 post titled "Game Abandoned?" — answered directly with "No." This is an unambiguous confirmation that the game remains in active development.
Prior to that, a January 31, 2024 post ("A sign of life") disclosed that a major rewrite of the game's core systems — terrain generation, multiplayer, and new mechanics — was in progress and taking longer than expected. The September 26, 2024 anniversary update then brought a new terrain generator, greatly improved multiplayer, new maps, and a range of other additions to the test branch. A sustained series of feature patches followed through October and November 2024, adding systems like expanded road types, new physics, dungeon content, and a milk system.
No 1.0 release date has been announced, and the developer has not indicated when Early Access will conclude. The game is receiving active work and the developer has repeatedly reaffirmed their commitment to continuing development.

About this game
This is a road trip game in an almost infinite random generated desert. The focus is on freedom, driving, exploration and immersion. It has minimal car maintenance and survival elements.
There are no invisible walls or unable to jump over small fences, or blinking red "wrong direction" signs on the hud. The car won't need 10-20 liter fuel over just only a few hundred meters, with a full tank, you could go approximately 500 kilometers. If you see a distant big mountain, you can go there and if you are capable, you can climb it. If you don't like where the mirrors are facing you can adjust them however you want or throw them away while driving at full speed. If you want to lean out of the car, or closer to the radio or near anything, you can.
