The Moon Hell launched on February 16, 2023 by a two-person Ukrainian indie studio (A.M. Team, now operating under the VIWESA GAMES brand). In the weeks following launch, the developers were highly active, shipping several feature patches and culminating in a large Version 2.0 overhaul on March 16, 2023 — a complete redesign of item placement, AI, combat balance, and other core systems. A follow-up bug-fix patch (2.0b) shipped on March 28, 2023, which is the last update to the game itself.
After March 2023, there were no further updates to The Moon Hell. The studio shifted focus to a new project — Pilgrim of Darkness, a co-op survival horror set in the same universe. This new game was announced for Steam Next Fest on February 24, 2026, and launched on March 7, 2026. That March 7 post explicitly frames The Moon Hell as the "first game" and offers owners an exclusive legacy costume in Pilgrim of Darkness as a tribute — language that strongly signals the original game is considered a complete, finished product.
There is no unreleased DLC, no announced future content for The Moon Hell, and the developer's own communications frame the game as a concluded chapter. The last content update shipped on March 28, 2023, and the studio has since moved on to its successor title.

We are a team from Ukraine consisting of two talented developers who have dedicated over 3 years of their lives to creating a game called THE MOON HELL.
Our efforts and boundless motivation have brought us wonderful results, which we are excited to share with you.
Despite the difficulties and challenging circumstances, we were able to make this game unique and special.
