The Ship: Murder Party

The Ship: Murder Party is the original 2006 release that has been available on Steam since July 11, 2006. Blazing Griffin, who acquired the rights to the game in 2011, has been transparent about its status: the game cannot be technically updated or patched due to Source Engine licensing restrictions — the cost of obtaining a technical licence would exceed rebuilding the game from scratch. This was formally communicated in a June 2015 "State of the Game" announcement. Because of this, the game launched as a finished product and has remained in that state ever since. No new content has been added, and none is planned for this title. Blazing Griffin's development energy for the franchise went into a separate product, The Ship: Remasted (launched in Early Access in February 2016), and later Murderous Pursuits (released April 2018). The most recent communication about The Ship: Murder Party was a July 2022 anniversary post celebrating its 16th year, which confirmed a new community server and Discord events but reaffirmed that the game itself cannot be modified. The game is a complete, standalone product exactly as it shipped in 2006.
