Evaluation
The Sorting Bureau launched on August 21, 2026, developed by a two-person studio (Dmitry and Maria). The game was preceded by a public demo released in May 2026, which received several updates and a Steam Next Fest appearance in June 2026. The full release incorporates all the improvements made during the demo period.
In the launch post on August 21, 2026, the developer explicitly stated: "We've got a lot more planned for it, free content updates included." An earlier June 2, 2026 developer post also mentioned "a couple more cozy ideas" for the in-game cat "that we're saving for later." These are clear, direct statements from the developer that additional content is planned beyond what shipped at launch.
The studio has been actively engaged with the community — a day-one patch (Update 1.0.1) shipped on August 22, 2026 with fixes and quality-of-life improvements, and the developers noted they are "fixing things the same day they show up." The game is only two days old as of today's date (August 23, 2026), and the developer's own words confirm more content is coming.
