Evaluation

The Succession of Changing Kings completed its Early Access journey and launched as a full 1.0 release on March 4, 2026, shipping all four acts, professional voice-overs in Russian and English, three difficulty levels, a redesigned save system, and over 800 events and quests. The store description explicitly states: "The entire game is fully available to play." The most recent developer communication, dated July 23, 2026 (today), provides the clearest picture of where things stand. The developer added Japanese and Chinese language support, completed some technical optimization, and then explicitly turned attention to two new games in development — "Defender of Darkness" (scheduled for November 6, 2026) and "Your Judgment, Inquisitor" (expected by end of 2026). The post thanks players for supporting The Succession of Changing Kings and promotes the upcoming projects, with no mention of further planned content for this game. Post-launch activity since March 4, 2026 has consisted of localization additions (Korean, Japanese, Chinese), balance patches, and bug fixes — all polish and maintenance work rather than new content. The developer made no announcement of any named DLC, expansion, or roadmap for this game. The earlier signal of "development will not stop after release" appears to have referred to this maintenance and localization work, which has now been delivered. The developer's focus has clearly transitioned to new projects. No content warnings or risk signals apply — the game is complete as shipped.

About this game

"The Succession of Changing Kings" puts you at the helm of a kingdom on the verge of disaster.

The lands that were once rich have now decayed into emptiness. The fields, once fertile with crops, are now covered in weeds. Trade routes have fallen silent, and the best people are leaving their homeland.

  • Construct buildings, hire subjects, decide the fate of your liegemen and take critical decisions that could influence the destiny of the whole domain.

  • Develop relations with the four key groups: nobility, army, church, and commoners. Remember, bad relations can bring all kinds of problems—including death.

  • The game is broken down into four acts, 25 turns per act, for a total of 100 turns to win the game. Each act tells a self-contained story that leads to your coronation. In every act, there are over 200 quests and events, some only available on replay.

  • There are more than 120 ways for the king to die.

The entire game is fully available to play.
