Evaluation

There's Nothing Down There launched on June 4, 2026 as a short horror exploration game. Since then the developer has released several updates: bug fixes and tweaks on June 6 and June 8, 2026, version 1.03 on June 13, 2026 which added a Streamer Mode, localizations in Spanish, French, German, Italian, Russian, Japanese, and Simplified and Traditional Chinese on July 30, 2026, and official VR support (version 1.1) on October 1, 2026. The June 13, 2026 post said that expanding the story and world was something the developer would be happy to pursue, but described it as a long process with nothing official yet. The October 1, 2026 post says the developer has moved on to work on a sequel, which is a separate project, and does not announce new content for this game. The game has had only one major content update since launch, and the developer has not said whether further content for this game is planned, so it is not yet clear whether more is coming.

About this game

There's Nothing Down There is a short horror exploration game about piloting a small submarine through dark ocean caverns. Tasked with investigating a large thermal anomaly, you and a colleague descend into a deep sinkhole at the bottom of the sea. Quickly, you discover the gargantuan structures of a long lost civilization and find that as ancient as these constructions are, they are not dead nor are they unguarded. What started as a routine surveying job will turn into a journey of monumental discovery and intense danger.

Features:

  • Deep atmospheric undersea caverns

  • Enormous ancient ruins to explore

  • Navigate dark caverns with a sonar system to find hidden pathways

  • Fully voiced story as you traverse deeper into the sunken structures

  • A life and death struggle against a colossal machine

Note

This game is intended to be finished in a single session (roughly 30 minutes) and does not include a save system.

VR

This game can be played in VR as a seated experience. Currently, only Oculus/Meta Quest headsets have been tested and verified as working. Support for other headsets is unverified.
