Evaluation

Tinker Racers launched out of Early Access on August 12, 2020. The launch post was warm and celebratory, with the two-brother team expressing pride in what they built — but also clearly signaling closure on this chapter. They thanked Early Access players and said "we wait for you in our next project," indicating the team was moving on. This was foreshadowed in a June 7, 2020 update (NEWS-3), where the developers explicitly stated they had decided to begin work on a new project rather than expand Tinker Racers further. They did leave a small door open, noting that "any new feature developed that has synergy with Tinker Racers will be evaluated and implemented," but framed this as a secondary consideration, not a commitment. After launch, there was one additional feature patch on November 25, 2020 (NEWS-2), expanding Free For All matches to support 8 players — likely the kind of cross-project synergy feature they hinted at. The only DLC ever listed is the official soundtrack, which released on December 16, 2020. There have been no further content updates, announcements, or developer communications after that point. The game's 24 news posts show only one major content release (the 1.0 launch), followed by a handful of bug fixes and one feature patch in the months immediately after launch — then silence. The developer's own words at launch, combined with the complete absence of any post-November 2020 activity, paint a consistent picture: Tinker Racers shipped as a complete game and development has concluded.

About this game

Tinker Racers is not about reaching the finishing line at all. In this Survival Racing Party Game, the challenge is to stay in sight on chaotic miniature tracks. You want to be leading the race to be the camera target. Especially because everyone that leaves the camera dies!

Race with mini RC cars on tracks that your parents never allowed you to set at home

Coop Campaign

  • Beat frenetic angry bots to unlock new tracks. Continue the good work and you may be allowed to mess up with other rooms;
  • Damage your car as minimum as possible to increase your score. Remember how careful you were with your toys (errhh… you were, right?);
  • Team up to get even higher scores playing it multiplayer. Be it your parents, siblings or friends, join forces with them to prove that you have the best teamwork out there!

Free For All

Don't care about scores, but love to compete and troll your friends? Race Free For All matches against your mates in a truly sociable way!

Single Race

For the more traditional racers, play Single Race mode with up to 4 local players in split screen.

WARNING: DO NOT TRY TO SET ANY OF THIS TRACKS AT HOME! RISK OF FIRE AND SEVERE DAMAGE TO YOUR PROPERTY!

This game is a tribute from two Codemasters MicroMachines fans. Thank you for the inspiration!
