TOKOYO: The Tower of Perpetuity launched in Early Access in November 2020 and graduated to its full 1.0 release on June 2, 2022. The 1.0 launch was a substantial update that added the true boss, true ending, Steam achievements, new collectibles, over 300 new maps, and a practice mode — representing the completion of the content roadmap the developer had been working toward throughout Early Access.
After the 1.0 launch, the developer added a free official mod character (RTA-chan) in August 2023 to commemorate the game's appearance at a speedrunning event in Japan. This was a small bonus addition rather than a major content release. The most recent developer communication is a security patch from October 6, 2025, addressing a Unity engine vulnerability — a maintenance update with no content implications.
The game has only one DLC, a soundtrack released on June 2, 2022, which is fully released. There are no unreleased DLC entries, no announced future content, and no roadmap pointing to additional updates. The developer's post-launch activity has been limited to a single bonus mod character and occasional bug/security fixes, with no signals of further planned content. The game appears to have launched as a complete product and remains in that state.

An auto-generated dungeon that changes daily
This 2D action game is set in Tokoyo – the Tower of Perpetuity – a constantly changing and devilishly deceptive auto-generated dungeon crawling tower with fiendish monsters and brutal traps. The Tower of Perpetuity is automatically regenerated by the game server every 24 hours (in real-world time), allowing for players around the world to take on the same dungeon each day, and for one day only. Different traps and gimmicks await you each day, and you must compete against other players while battling your way through. The dungeon contains various differing branches, offering a certain degree of free choice and randomization.
Light social elements
Race to the top of the tower against rivals around the globe as you aim to top the daily rankings chart. Players on Steam and Nintendo Switch share the same rankings, so if you manage to cement the top spot, well it means you are the undisputed king that day.
Social features utilizing the network have been implemented in the game, in which a gravestone will be placed where a player meets their end, appearing in other players’ games along with their “relics” and “last words”. Take advantage of the different special skills afforded to each character and compete with other players as you struggle to surpass the countless bodies of your less fortunate rivals and fight your way through the impregnable dungeon.

Apart from the 5 original playable characters, there are also official custom characters you can take control of. You can even freely edit and customize skins for your character which will then appear in the game. Take on the role of your favorite character and dominate Tokoyo – The Tower of Perpetuity!
