Evaluation

Ghost Recon Wildlands launched on March 6, 2017 and received extensive post-launch content across two years — including the Narco Road and Fallen Ghosts paid expansions, the free Predator crossover mission, and four "Special Operations" updates running through February 2019. The game had been considered complete after Operation Oracle in May 2019, with no further content announced for several years. However, on August 7, 2026, Ubisoft released a major free update called "Last Rites" to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Ghost Recon franchise. This update includes a brand-new narrative mission (La Llorona), the return of the Predator crossover mission, 4K/60FPS support for current-generation hardware, extensive new gameplay customization options, new cosmetic items, and significant store changes that unlock previously locked content. Alongside this, Ubisoft released a new Definitive Edition bundling all prior DLC, a Definitive Edition Upgrade for existing owners, and two new cosmetic DLC packs (Cold Eye Pack and Nightfall Protocol Pack). The developer's August 8 and August 9 news posts, promoting the La Llorona mission and Predator's return respectively, both close with the phrase "Stay tuned for more to come as we continue to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Ghost Recon." This is a direct developer statement indicating additional content is planned beyond what has already shipped. All DLC in the store listing is marked as released, and the Definitive Edition Upgrade (DLC-7) is available for existing owners. The August 7, 2026 anniversary update was released just 11 days before today's date, placing the game squarely in an active content window tied to the anniversary celebration.
