TUNG originally launched into Early Access on August 12, 2026 as a free-to-play first-person horror game. The developer shipped several updates in the weeks following launch, including speedrunning features, achievements, AI improvements, and graphical settings. At some point the game was temporarily removed from Steam due to a DMCA claim. On October 5, 2026, the developer announced the issue had been fully resolved, the game was back on Steam, and that the full 1.0 release would arrive the next day. On October 6, 2026 — today — the developer published the full release post, confirming TUNG is no longer in Early Access. The 1.0 release includes significant improvements: a revamped hedge maze, FPS optimizations, six new achievements, new speedrunning modes, additional secrets, and various fixes. Because the full release arrived today, there has been no time to observe whether the developer intends to continue updating the game after 1.0. The developer previously stated they would "keep updating this game" during Early Access, but that was a general statement made before the full release. No specific future content has been announced. Given the game just launched today, it is too early to determine the long-term content direction.
