Evaluation
Turing Complete remains in Early Access and is under highly active development. The game underwent a massive multi-year rewrite that culminated in the version 2.0 update shipping on July 15, 2026 — replacing the game engine with a custom-built one, delivering 100x faster simulation, variable-width components, a new assembler framework, a rebuilt campaign, and many other improvements. A follow-up patch on July 27, 2026 restored the game's story and replaced the main character.
The developer has been explicit about what comes next: the July 15, 2026 patch notes state that "first priority now is polishing the game until we can officially exit Early Access." This is the developer's stated immediate goal. Beyond that, the same post references Turing Complete 3.0 as a future milestone, signaling that the developer's plans extend well past the upcoming 1.0 launch.
The soundtrack DLC released on September 1, 2026 confirms ongoing commercial activity around the game. Developer communication has been consistent throughout the game's history — from the November 2021 launch post through the February 2025 status update, the June 2026 announcement, and the July 2026 patches. The developer has stated plainly that Turing Complete "will not be abandoned" and is intended to be relevant for decades. This is a long-term project with a clear near-term goal (1.0 release) and stated longer-term plans (3.0).

Developer announced the upcoming 2.0 rewrite as a 'major rewrite that has taken years to complete,' with most benefits to be realized in the future, and confirmed plans to exit Early Access after polishing.

About this game
-= LEARN =-
Everything in a computer can be constructed from a basic component called a NAND gate. You will be challenged through a series of puzzles, to discover the path from NAND gates to arithmetic, memory and all the way to full CPU architectures. If you complete this game, you will have a deep understanding of how assembly, CPU instruction sets and basic components are related. And you will understand how programming concepts like if statements, loops and functions actually work in assembly and hardware.

-= BUILD =-
The game is built on a powerful simulator, that gives you total freedom in how you solve levels or create your own computers. Wire up screens, timers, sound, keyboard input and network components to create whatever you want. You can even design a unique assembly language for your computer.
