Evaluation

Underhero launched on September 19, 2018 as a complete, self-contained game. A pre-launch post from June 28, 2018 confirmed the game was content-complete before release — all assets, story, bosses, and music were finished. The game shipped as a finished product with no post-launch content expansion roadmap. Following launch, Paper Castle Games focused on platform ports (PS4, Xbox One, and Switch all released in February 2020), and made quality-of-life improvements such as Mac/Linux support, key rebinding, and various bug fixes. None of these represent new story or gameplay content — they are platform expansions and technical improvements to the existing complete game. The only DLC ever released is the official soundtrack (March 31, 2021), which is not gameplay content. By June 2020, the developer publicly stated they had begun work on an entirely new IP — what would become Wander Stars. They noted that an Underhero sequel is "not entirely discarded" but is not their current focus. A June 7, 2025 announcement confirmed Wander Stars is launching August 1, 2025. The studio's attention has fully shifted to that new title. There are no outstanding content commitments for Underhero, no unreleased DLC, and no developer statements suggesting additional Underhero content is planned.
Evidence
Developer confirmed they have started work on a new IP (not an Underhero sequel), while noting a sequel is not entirely ruled out but is not planned. Studio attention has moved on.
