Evaluation

Unpossess: Exorcism Simulator launched out of Early Access on March 21, 2025. Following that launch, the solo developer shipped two major updates in relatively quick succession: Version 2.0 on May 16, 2025 (adding "The Possession of Victor" case) and Version 3.0 on September 5, 2025 (adding "The Possession of Sarah" case, new challenges, creature skins, and graphical improvements). This established a post-launch cadence of roughly 2–4 months between major content releases. In January 2026, the developer announced Unpossess 2: Exorcism Simulator — a full sequel built in Unreal Engine 5. The most recent developer post (June 27, 2026) confirmed the sequel is actively in development and invited community members to playtest it, but made no mention of new content for the original game. As of August 19, 2026, it has been nearly 12 months since the last major content update for this game — significantly beyond the 2–4 month pattern established post-launch. The developer has not announced that the original game is finished or that no more content is planned, but they have also not announced anything new for it, and their focus has clearly shifted to the sequel. This leaves the original game in an uncertain state: it may be quietly complete, or occasional updates could still be possible, but there is no current indication either way.
Evidence
Developer's most recent post focuses entirely on Unpossess 2, announcing a playtest and describing the sequel's features. No mention of new content planned for the original game.
