ValiDate: Struggling Singles in your Area

ValiDate launched on September 28, 2022 as a partial release: the store page openly states that only 4 of the game's 13 playable characters are included, with the remaining 9 characters to be delivered in future volumes. This is an explicit, developer-communicated promise of additional content that has not yet been fulfilled. Following launch, the developer released several patches through early 2023, including a feature update in December 2022 that added a rhythm mini-game, auto-save, new font options, and other quality-of-life improvements. The last developer communication of any kind was a minor bug fix post on February 13, 2023. Since February 13, 2023, there have been no announcements, patch notes, roadmap updates, or any other communication from Veritable Joy Studios — over three years of silence. The promised future volumes containing the remaining 9 characters have not been released, and the developer has provided no update on their status. The Xbox release announced in May 2022 also appears to have never materialized without further comment. Given that the core content promise (9 more playable characters) remains unfulfilled and the developer has been completely silent since February 13, 2023, there is meaningful uncertainty about whether those future volumes are still in development.
