Vector Strike launched into Early Access as a free-to-play game on March 4, 2025, with a community roadmap and a burst of feature patches through late March 2025. The original developer, Chamo Games, then ran out of funding and the team dissolved. On January 23, 2026, one of the remaining developers posted a candid warning urging people not to buy the game, explaining that the original team is gone, the backend has been shut down, critical features like matchmaking and server browsing were never built, and there was no certainty about future updates. Since that post, a small group of developers has managed to restore the ability to patch the game. On June 11, 2026, they pushed a minimal fix to restore a broken Discord link in the main menu. On June 14, 2026, they shipped a more substantive — if rough — update that added experimental, unfinished strikers (characters that were in development when the studio shut down) and a direct link to a community-run North American server. The developers themselves describe these strikers as "broken and unbalanced" with no art assets, and note that some localization issues remain to be fixed "in the future." These are encouraging signs that a skeleton crew is keeping the game alive, but the situation remains precarious. There is no active roadmap, no formal studio structure, no resolved funding situation, and the game is still missing fundamental features that were promised for Early Access. The June 14 post invites the community to weigh in on what to work on next, suggesting development is reactive and community-driven rather than planned. The game is still officially in Early Access and remains far from a finished 1.0 release.
